Sunkid: 400 systems operational
The last three winter seasons did wonders for the order books at the Sunkid company of Jerzens, Austria, with no fewer than 400 systems installed and commissioned. In Austria's ski areas alone, Sunkid now has 200 systems operational.
In addition to the conveyor lifts that are now taken for granted for ski and snowboard instruction for both children and adults, the Sunkid conveyors are mainly used as interconnects in ski areas, to service practice slopes, as links to catering facilities and also for complete projects like Sunkid World.
One Sunkid showcase is Children's World in Serfaus, where an adventure playground measuring approx. 500 x 400 m provides healthy fun in the fresh mountain air for up to 1500 children.
In the last few years some 300 metres of conveyor system have been installed to substitute the old ski tow, and the dangerous wooden and iron fittings have been replaced by charming and above all safe Sunkid foam rubber figures and other accessories.
The company also reports positive developments from France, where Sunkid systems are now available in such resorts as Val Thorens, Chamonix, Serre Chevalier, La Rosiere, Montvalezan, Megeve and St. Lary, with more to follow.
Similarly the upward trend in Italy and Japan has been consolidated with twelve new systems in place in each country. The Sunkid system has also demonstrated its suitability for marginal conditions, e.g. in Scandinavia, Colorado/USA (at altitudes of over 3500 m above sea-level!) and Australia.
That is an expression of the soundness of the design and engineering on the one hand and the result of close monitoring of system performance on the other.
The company's strength and high levels of customer satisfaction are reflected in a world market share of no less than 85%, a figure that has been achieved through a policy of co-operation with leading sales and service partners like Doppelmayr.
