Experience ornithology in a fun way
Bellamonte/Val di Fiemme (Italy): Sunkid along with partners Kerschdorfer (landscaping) and Almholz (wood structures) plans and implements a two-phase summer project focusing on the "bird" theme in the middle of the Alpe di Lusia (ski) resort.
Right next to the top station of the 4-seat Fassane chair lift at an altitude of 5,740 ft (1,750m), a play area focusing on the Giro d'Ali theme has been designed where kids of all ages can have fun. As the name Giro d'Ali already reveals, the topic of (bird) wings runs like a common thread through the particular play stations. Yet there’s also room to learn about the fauna and flora of the surrounding environment. The project is divided into two areas.
The first area leads through a meadow used as a ski slope in winter. A small (artificially created) stream crosses it. This educational course can be best described as “barefoot in the stream.” Stretching over several hundred meters alongside the trail are small waterfalls, stone steps set underwater, small suspended bridges, wood play equipment and even an exciting gold panning station, as well as small rafts shaped like the typical birds found in the Fleimstal valley: eagles and hawks, bullfinches, sparrows and robins...
The meadow next to the stream is also great to play on and to have fun discovering the mysteries of nature. There, the youngest children will find interactive play stations with materials from the forest for their enjoyment. All play equipment is planned, built and assembled such that they can be easily removed after the summer season, so that the meadow can once again be used as a ski slope in the winter. The circular trail alongside the stream was designed to make it easy to access with baby carriages and strollers.
The second part of the project, described as the “bird trail” is made up of six stations located alongside the slope at the edge of the woods. A major contribution to the successful implementation of the project was made by Mr. Harald Kaneider as representative of Sunkid Italia. He had played a significant role in the planning and designed a turnkey concept along with both partners Kerschdorfer (landscaping) and Almholz (wood structures) and also coordinated construction work for the customers as the sole contact person.
