Unique. Exclusive. Imaginative.
The municipality of Spiez in the Swiss canton of Bern is a very popular destination for visitors from Switzerland and abroad. A very special crowd puller is the Spiezer Bucht with the landing stage of the BLS Schifffahrt Thuner- & Brienzersee. The local recreation area offers a varied range of leisure activities, such as a swimming pool, a mini-golf course, a skate park, small stores and a playground. This playground was due for general renovation, so there was an official invitation to tender. Nine out of ten invited companies took part in this competition - the winner was Borer Lift AG, part of Sunkidworld.
Since the topic of shipping is of great importance in Spiez, the entire adventure and adventure playground, in cooperation with the Almholz company, was redesigned around the theme of shipping. The highlight of the playground is the new "stranded" Wood'n'Fun steamship Blümlisalp, the flagship of Lake Thun shipping. The ship was specially and individually planned for this project, made of weather-resistant larch wood and put into operation at the playground. In addition, the large play area includes a speaking tube, a swing, a water feature in a sandbox and benches.
The criteria of novelty character and innovative elements, coupled with "must have components" were thus all fulfilled - those involved are happy and pleased that the children can now play exuberantly in the bay again.
