Moving carpet “Huckleberry” enriches the overall experience in Grand Targhee
The Grand Targhee Resort, affectionately known as “The Ghee”, is located in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest on the western slopes of the Tetons in Wyoming (USA). It has been a popular destination for summer and winter sports since 1969.
Thanks to its high altitude and wide range of ski slopes, the resort attracts numerous snow sports enthusiasts. In 2023, a modern covered Sunkid Moving Carpet called “Huckleberry” went into operation.
The new installation replaces the previous “Papoose” conveyor belt and is located in the redesigned beginners' area near the Shoshone lift. This area has been widened and re-profiled to create a safe and easy learning environment.
With a length of 81 meters, the Sunkid Moving Carpet offers a quick ascent aid for the deep-snow fans of tomorrow. The canopy protects users from wind and weather and ensures increased comfort. The doors at the covered entry and exit area increase protection from the elements - especially wind-blown snow - and minimize the work of the lift staff before the daily operating start. A drive power of 15 kW was selected for optimum transport performance.
Conor Rowan from Sunkid's North American subsidiary Star Lifts summarizes: “The Grand Targhee Ski School is very pleased with the new Moving Carpet, as it makes the learning process much easier for beginners and contributes to the overall positive experience at the resort.”
